Alaigal Turns Two!
Last year this time, we took the first step into our dreamland, in which our goals were sky high, but our hope to make it was higher. We didn’t really start with multiple layers of planning, but with one unspoken rule among us. Which is, don’t race through our dreamland! Instead, take a stroll, look around, take it all in, make friends, most importantly, make memories, and just keep going. Oh, sometimes we do waltz when the scene is just too beautiful to move from…
So fast forward to today…oh wait! We did that in the last blog, so let’s take it slow this time. Let’s stroll, shall we?
First, as promised in the last blog, let’s start with how we named ourselves ALAIGAL. We all took one single night to come up with a portfolio, schemes and even a website to send our first wedding project enquiry, but we couldn’t decide on a name for ourselves. Initially, it was just “The Wedding Team” for which we wanted to find an alternative immediately; so we dared ourselves to take another night to sit together on FaceTime and not sign off until we decided on a name, no matter how long it takes.
First thing all three of us agreed on is that the name should be in Tamil, because every time we come across a brand name in Tamil, we just take a pause to get to know more about the brand, and we somehow felt it just matched well with our intentions. Then we slowly started narrowing it down, taking inspiration from classic Tamil movies and songs. At this point, we are well past midnight, and we somehow had around 8 names to choose from.
One name kept standing out for us, which was “Ninaivalaigal” The reason is that we wanted to make everlasting memories, and we wanted those memories to give people the feeling of stepping into the sea and feeling the waves touching their feet for the first time. We loved the name and the meaning behind it, but the name felt a bit hard to pronounce, especially to other languages speakers. So we finally decided to name ourselves ALAIGAL, and we are very grateful to see the name loved so much, not just by us but by everyone else.
Now we feel so happy and proud whenever someone mentions us, not by our individual names but with the name ALAIGAL. Every time this happens, we just take a moment to look at each other and smile. So that’s the end of the story! Oh wait…it isn’t the end, it’s actually a beginning to yet another exciting story.

Alaigal turned two today! Yaay! Wow! Feels like a minute though!
We travelled to beautiful places, met lovely people, had amazing food, and made soulful memories, enough for us to sit and reminisce, especially during our terrace time with a cup of coffee.
You know what, after all these days, we have this beautiful feeling of we are just getting warmed up for yet another year and we are so excited to start our three with everyone of you.
