Sneaking the Couple Out to Their Favourite Café Right After Their Wedding
2025 has been an incredible year for Alaigal. A year of trying unique ideas that go beyond standing out as creators. It’s about taking that one extra step to give the couples heartfelt memories they can cherish forever. This story is one such moment, from Sadhana and Rahul’s beautiful self respect marriage (சுயமரியாதை திருமணம்)
Have you heard of a self respect wedding? If not, we highly recommend reading about it. Sadhana and Rahul’s celebration was Alaigal’s very first Samamurai wedding, and everything about it felt intentional, meaningful, and deeply personal. Almost a year has passed since that day, yet we still find ourselves reminiscing about the moments we were lucky enough to document. This wedding introduced us to an entirely new emotion behind the lens.
Because the couple had put so much heart and effort into creating this ceremony, it felt only natural to give their wedding a beautiful, intimate ending—something just for them.
During our very first meeting, we learned that Sadhana is a coffee lover, just like us. She kept talking about this bakery called Old Madras Baking Company, known for its incredible filter coffee. It was also the place where Sadhana and Rahul spent countless hours planning their wedding. That’s when the idea began to take shape. Before the meeting ended, they casually mentioned how wonderful it would be to sneak out on their wedding day and spend a few quiet moments at the bakery. Just imagining it filled us with excitement.
Fast forward to the wedding day, and it felt like the universe was quietly conspiring to make it happen. The ceremony ended much earlier than expected, the parents were happily occupied with guests, the bakery was just two kilometres away and one look at Sadhana told us she was craving a cup of coffee. We pitched the idea to the couple, and within 15 minutes, we were sitting at Old Madras Baking Company with a warm filter coffee in Sadhana’s hands and the most genuine smiles on both their faces.
We didn’t pose them or direct a single moment. We simply let them be. They laughed, they relaxed, and they soaked it all in. The memories we captured during those moments will always remain close to our hearts.
A special mention to Old Madras Baking Company—for graciously welcoming us during a calm afternoon as we walked in with cameras, gear, and a newly married couple in full wedding attire. Despite the sudden chaos, they served us the most amazing coffee with the warmest smiles.
Moments like these remind us why we do what we do.
